Your riding logbook

The riding journal that writes itself.

Every serious rider is told to keep a journal. Almost nobody keeps it up, because after untacking, mucking out and hay nets, nobody wants paperwork. Gallopa fills in the objective half of the journal automatically, so all you add is the sentence only you can write.

Logged for you, on every ride

  • Date, time and duration of every session.
  • The route on a map, with distance and elevation.
  • Speeds: average and maximum.
  • Time in every gait with bout counts, from automatic gait detection.
  • Heart rate, when tracked with Apple Watch.
  • Ride type: trail ride, hack, lesson, flatwork, jumping, endurance or other.

Added by you, in ten seconds

Name the ride, pick the horse, and jot a note: "spooked at the pheasants again", "best canter work in weeks", "keep left leg quieter next time". Weeks later, those ten-second notes next to hard numbers are what make the journal genuinely useful, for you, your instructor, or your vet and physio when something needs investigating.

One logbook, every horse

Each ride carries its horse's name, so a two-horse owner, a sharer, or a rider on school horses keeps every horse's work separate in one place. See at a glance which horse worked this week and which one is due a proper school.

Progress you can see

Your logbook totals kilometres, hours and rides. Scroll back through a season and the story is right there: fitness building as canter minutes grow, that month it rained and everything stopped, the steady progress since the new instructor. Numbers do not flatter and do not forget.

Your data, out whenever you want

Any ride exports as a CSV with full second-by-second data (position, speed, elevation, gait) or as a formatted PDF report. Share a beautiful ride card to Instagram, send the PDF to your trainer, or run your own analysis on the CSV. Nothing is locked in, and the underlying data lives on your device, as covered in the privacy policy.

Frequently asked questions

What should I write in a horse riding journal?

The useful core is: date, horse, type of session, what you worked on, how the horse felt, and anything to follow up next time. Gallopa records the objective half automatically (date, route, distance, speeds, time in each gait) so your note only needs the part no sensor can know: how it felt and what to do next.

Can I log rides on multiple horses?

Yes. Each ride carries the horse's name, so riders with more than one horse, or riders who share, loan or ride school horses, can keep every horse's work separate in the same logbook.

Can I export my riding log?

Yes. Any ride exports as a CSV file with the full second-by-second data (position, speed, elevation, gait) or as a formatted PDF report. Your data is never locked in.

Is the riding journal free?

Yes. The logbook, GPS tracking, gait detection, notes, sharing and export are all free. Only unlimited AI video coaching is part of the optional Gallopa Pro subscription.
