Horse rides tracked with Gallopa

Start with a country: 501 public rides are on this site right now, each with its real GPS route, distance and pace. A country page lists its regions and the towns riders ride near; a ride page shows the exact line. For rides around you, get the Gallopa app and follow riders in your area.

Two ways. Browse here: every public ride is placed by the nearest town to its route, so a country or region page is a map of where riders actually go. Or get the free Gallopa app on iPhone: it records your own rides, shows the public rides and riders around you, and lets you follow the riders whose routes you like.

A ride a rider recorded with GPS in the Gallopa app and chose to publish. 501 rides are public right now. Each page shows the route coloured by gait, the distance, the moving time, the average and top speed, the climb, and how long the horse spent in walk, trot, canter and gallop.

Open a country page from the list above, then a region. Every ride on it is placed by the nearest town to its route, so a page like Horse riding in Bavaria is a list of real routes with real distances, ridden by real horses.

The Gallopa app fuses GPS speed with the phone's or watch's motion sensors: a trot bounces at two beats, a canter at three. Every second of a ride is labelled halt, walk, trot, canter or gallop, and the totals on each page are those seconds added up, not a rider's estimate.

Only what the rider allows. The app cuts the route inside a privacy zone around the start and end by default, a rider can hide the whole route, and the place name on a page is the nearest town to the route, never an address.

Record the ride with Gallopa on iPhone or Apple Watch, then tap Publish on the finished ride. The page appears within minutes with the route, the distance and the time in each gait, and it disappears the moment you make the ride private again.
