How it works
From mounting up to measurable progress in three steps.
Start your ride
Tap Start on your iPhone or Apple Watch and put it away. GPS and motion sensing do the rest, online or offline.
Ride like always
Gallopa quietly records your route, speed, elevation, heart rate and every change of gait while you focus on your horse.
See the story after
Get your map, stats and time-in-gait breakdown, add notes, share a beautiful ride card, or send a video to the AI coach.
New on the App Store, built to be trusted.
No fake reviews here. Just what Gallopa actually ships with, and the kind of feedback it gives.
The kind of feedback the AI coach gives
0:42 - Lovely quiet seat through the upward transition. Soften your elbows a touch so the contact can follow the neck.
1:58 - You tip forward on landing. Sink your weight into your heels and let the hip angle open a beat sooner.
3:11 - Beautifully steady rhythm in working trot. Add a little more inside leg on circles to stop the shoulder falling in.
Frequently asked questions
Everything riders ask before their first tracked ride.
What is Gallopa?
Gallopa is a horse riding tracker app for iPhone and Apple Watch. It records your rides with GPS (route, distance, speed, elevation), automatically detects how long you spent in walk, trot, canter and gallop, keeps a riding logbook, and includes an AI coach that reviews videos of your riding and gives scored, timestamped feedback.
Is Gallopa free?
Yes. Downloading Gallopa is free, and GPS ride tracking, gait detection, the riding logbook, sharing and Apple Watch tracking are all free. An optional Gallopa Pro subscription unlocks unlimited AI video coaching analyses.
How does automatic gait detection work?
Gallopa combines your GPS speed with the motion rhythm measured by your device to classify every moment of the ride as halt, walk, trot, canter or gallop. There are no buttons to press during the ride; you get a full time-in-gait breakdown with bout counts when you finish.
How does the AI riding coach work?
You pick a video of your riding from your camera roll. Gallopa securely uploads it, an AI model analyses your technique, and you get scores across six dimensions (seat, hands, leg, rhythm, transitions and harmony) plus timestamped corrections you can tap to replay that exact moment in your video. More on the AI riding coach page.
Does Gallopa work on Apple Watch?
Yes. The Gallopa watch app records rides straight from your wrist with GPS, live heart rate and gait detection, even when your iPhone is left at the yard. Rides sync back to your phone automatically and are saved to Apple Health as equestrian workouts. Details on the Apple Watch page.
Does Gallopa work offline, without phone signal?
Yes. GPS tracking never needs an internet connection, so rides on remote trails record perfectly. If the map cannot load, Gallopa still draws your live route. Only the optional AI video coaching needs a connection.
Is my riding data private?
Your rides, routes and health data are stored on your device. Nothing is uploaded unless you explicitly share a ride or start an AI analysis, and coaching videos are deleted from the server after your feedback is generated. Full details in the privacy policy.
Which riding disciplines does Gallopa support?
All of them. You can tag each ride as trail ride, hack, lesson, flatwork, jumping, endurance or other, and the tracker works the same whether you school dressage, jump, hunt or hack out for fun.
Is Gallopa available for Android?
Not yet. Gallopa is currently available for iPhone (iOS 17 or later) and Apple Watch. An Android version is being considered.
